Dulquer Salmaan to not return for Kamal Haasan's 'Thug Life'
The much-anticipated film Thug Life, a joint venture of Kamal Haasan and director Mani Ratnam, has been facing casting uncertainties. Initially, the movie was set to feature Dulquer Salmaan, Jayam Ravi, and Trisha Krishnan in key roles. However, uncertainties arose when reports surfaced last month suggesting that Silambarasan TR would step in to replace Salmaan. Now, reports have confirmed that Salmaan will not be rejoining Thug Life.
Why does this story matter?
The film was officially announced in November 2022, with its tentative title as KH234—marking Haasan's 234th project as a lead actor. A year later, in 2023, the makers officially announced the film's title Thug Life with an announcement teaser video. It also introduced Haasan's character as he said, "My name is Rangaraya Sakthivel Nayakar from Kayalpattinam. My destiny was etched on me at birth that I would be a criminal, a thug, a Yakuza."
Ravi's participation in 'Thug Life' still uncertain
Ravi, another actor initially slated for a pivotal role in the forthcoming film, is currently engaged with other pending projects. This has led to speculation about his appearance in the film. There is no official word yet on his potential comeback to the project.
Undeterred by alleged exits, filming of 'Thug Life' continues
Amid the rumored exits of Salmaan and Ravi, the Thug Life crew remains undeterred, preparing for their upcoming filming phase. The film boasts a star-studded ensemble featuring Haasan, Krishnan, Gautham Karthik, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Joju George. With anticipation building, the team is poised to unveil replacements for Salmaan and Ravi in due course. Earlier, filming had been delayed due to Haasan's involvement in the impending Lok Sabha campaign.

However, the release date remains undisclosed, adding an element of suspense to the highly awaited project.
