'Don 3': Farhan reveals why Ranveer replaced Shah Rukh Khan
Director Farhan Akhtar recently revealed the reason behind replacing Shah Rukh Khan with Ranveer Singh in the upcoming film Don 3. The announcement of Singh's casting earlier this year had sparked backlash among fans who felt that Khan, who played the lead role in Don and Don 2, would have been a more suitable choice. Now, Akhtar has explained why that wasn't possible.
Akhtar says he couldn't find common ground with Khan
In a conversation with journalist Faye D'Souza, Akhtar explained that while he initially considered Khan for Don 3, they could not find "common ground." "When I first started thinking about doing a Don 3, I mean, obviously, I thought of writing something with Shah Rukh in it, but somehow we just couldn't find the right place to be able to take the story to," he said.
Akhtar also teased plot details
Akhtar added, "So I was like, let me just kind of rethink what I want to do with the film and kind of go back. Kind of go a little bit more into like a 'what made Don, Don' kind of story, and that's when I started writing that." "Then, that took on a life of its own, and that obviously needed for there to be a younger actor. Ranveer just felt like absolutely the right guy."
Sobhita Dhulipala might join 'Don 3' in a special role
Meanwhile, reports suggest that actor Sobhita Dhulipala may join the cast of Don 3. According to Zee News, Dhulipala, who recently got engaged to actor Naga Chaitanya, has been approached for a dance number in the film. Separately, apart from Singh, Kiara Advani has been confirmed for the project. The film is yet to go on floors.
