'Allen v. Farrow' to feature sexual-abuse allegations against Woody Allen
Woody Allen and his ex-partner Mia Farrow's much-publicized battle over the sexual abuse allegations leveled against him will be explored in an upcoming docuseries. It will be out on February 21. This docuseries, titled Allen v. Farrow, will span over four parts and is directed by filmmakers Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering, who have created The Hunting Ground and On The Record.
The trailer calls the abuse row unique in Connecticut's history
The trailer shows Farrow prominently, as among those interviewed for the docuseries. It starts with a male voice referring to the sex abuse row as "unlike anything that the state of Connecticut had confronted." The camera then moves its focus across images of Allen with family, as we hear a reporter saying if "Farrow has coached the child to tell the story."
Seven-year-old Dylan Farrow accusing Allen to be seen in docuseries
This statement implies allegations Dylan Farrow, the daughter of Allen and Mia Farrow, levelled against him in August 1992, when she was a child. The docuseries also promises explosive footage of seven-year-old Dylan accusing Allen of the abuse, which would see the light of day now. The title also interviews Dylan and journalist Ronan Farrow, who's the only biological child of Allen and Farrow.
Experts, relatives, first-hand eyewitnesses to feature too; but not Allen
Ronan, The New Yorker scribe, reported several #MeToo allegations in Hollywood. Apart from him, Dylan, and Farrow, the series also has bytes from family friend Carly Simon, relatives, prosecutor Frank Maco, experts, investigators and other first-hand eyewitnesses. It, however, doesn't feature Allen, the couple's son Moses Farrow and Mia's adopted daughter Soon-Yi Previn, who went on to marry Allen, her stepfather, in 1997.
Allen defended himself in memoir, Farrow has 'Ahab-like quest'
The 85-year-old has repeatedly denied Dylan's allegations. In his 2020 biography Apropos of Nothing, he wrote, "I never laid a finger on Dylan, never did anything to her that could be misconstrued as abusing her; it was a total fabrication from start to finish." He added that Farrow, his partner of over ten years, had this "Ahab-like quest" after he dumped her for Previn.
