Box office: 'Do Aur Do Pyaar' struggles to attract audience
The first weekend box office results have revealed a disappointing start for the new releases, Do Aur Do Pyaar and Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2 (LSD 2). While, Dibakar Banerjee's LSD 2 failed to make a dent, unable to even cross the ₹1cr mark in India, Vidya Balan's Do Aur Do Pyaar fared marginally better, pulling in over ₹2cr in three days. 'Do Aur Do Pyaar' sees slight uptick in earnings
Do Aur Do Pyaar, a romantic drama directed by Shirsha Guha Thakurta, and featuring Balan, Pratik Gandhi, Ileana D'Cruz, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, experienced a slight increase in collections on Saturday (₹95 lakh) after an initial lukewarm opening day that garnered ₹55 lakh (domestic nett). The film's financial performance improved further on Sunday, with an estimated India (nett) collection of ₹1.15cr. According to Sacnilk, the total earnings now stand at ₹2.65cr.
Meanwhile, 'LSD 2' failed to impress at box office
Meanwhile, Do Aur Do Pyaar's competition, LSD 2, also saw a slight rise in daily earnings on Sunday. However, after underwhelming performances of ₹15 lakh and ₹12 lakh on Friday and Saturday, respectively, the film only managed to collect an India nett of ₹52 lakh. As per Sacnilk's report, the total domestic nett for LSD 2 stands at a disappointing ₹79 lakh, leading it to be labeled as a box office flop.
Low occupancy rates for 'Do Aur Do Pyaar'
The overall occupancy rate for Do Aur Do Pyaar on Sunday was a mere 14.97% in the Hindi market, with rates fluctuating throughout the day. The film started at a low of 8.21% in the morning, rose to 16.75% during the afternoon, peaked at 20.63% in the evening, and ended at 14.27% at night. In comparison, LSD 2 fared even worse with an overall occupancy rate of just 7.92%.
About the plot of 'Do Aur Do Pyaar'
The plot of Do Aur Do Pyaar revolves around a married couple, Kavya Ganeshan (Balan) and Anirudh Bannerjee (Gandhi), each involved in an extra-marital affair, awaiting the right moment to confess. Kavya dates a dashing photographer Vikram (Sendhil), while Anirudh finds solace in Nora aka Rosie (D'Cruz), who later becomes pregnant with his child. However, instead of coming clean about their indiscretions, Kavya and Anirudh find themselves drawn back into the flames of their past romance.
