Hollywood Studios to feature iconic Disney villains in new show!
Ready to embrace your dark side? Disney World is bringing a "delightfully wicked" 'new villains' show to its Hollywood Studios park in Orlando! This fresh performance will take over the Sunset Showcase theater, replacing the beloved Lightning McQueen's Racing Academy, which revs its engines for the final time on October 7. Get ready for a dose of villainy that promises a thrilling twist on Disney magic!
Disney villains take center stage in new show
The new villains show will be set in "the mysterious, reflective realm of the Magic Mirror," according to Disney, featuring "dozens of the most infamous evildoers including Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent. Disney has released a conceptual rendering of Cruella's segment and a composite image hinting at appearances by other classic Disney villains. These include Jafar from Aladdin, Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland, Ursula from The Little Mermaid, and Scar from The Lion King.
Villains show joins other new Disney attractions
The villains show is part of a series of new attractions at Disney's Hollywood Studios park. This includes The Little Mermaid - A Musical Adventure stage show, which is set to replace the popular Voyage of the Little Mermaid theater production. The latter opened in 1992 but closed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and has not reopened since.
Disney World's all-new Villains Land
In addition to the villains show, Disney previously announced at its D23 convention in August that an all-new Villains Land would open at Disney World's Magic Kingdom park in the future. This new attraction will feature rides, shopping, and dining inspired by various Disney villains. Conceptual artwork for the land showed Maleficent in dragon form, standing next to a dark castle, a moody village, and a large roller coaster traveling through thorn bushes.
