Disney confirms 'Ice Age 6': Cast, release details, and more
Disney has officially announced Ice Age 6's development at D23 Brasil, a decade after its predecessor Ice Age: Collision Course (2016) hit theaters. The sixth installment in the franchise will be released in 2026, although a specific date hasn't been revealed yet. The news was confirmed via a special announcement video featuring Ray Romano, who will reprise his role as Manny the Wooly Mammoth. Here's more about this upcoming film.
'Ice Age 6' marks a new era under Disney's ownership
Ice Age 6 will be the first film in the series to hit cinemas under Disney's ownership. They acquired most of 21st Century Fox's film and television operations in 2019, including rights to franchises like The Simpsons, X-Men, Alien, and Ice Age. The franchise started with the first film in 2002 and has since grown to include main installments like Ice Age: The Meltdown (2006), Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (2009), and Ice Age: Continental Drift (2012).
Original cast members return for 'Ice Age 6'
Apart from Romano, the original cast members returning for Ice Age 6 include John Leguizamo as Sid the sloth, Queen Latifah as Ellie the wooly mammoth, Denis Leary as Diego the saber-tooth tiger, as well as Simon Pegg as Buck the one-eyed weasel. In the announcement video, Romano shivered in cold while saying, "Ray Romano here with some big news! Wow, it's cold in here...Did the AC break or something?" before announcing that "Ice Age 6 is coming to theaters."
