'TMKOC': Disha Vakani might not return; who will replace her?
With her famous role as Dayaben on popular SAB TV series Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Disha Vakani became a household name. She has garnered a massive fan following among audiences. So, two years back, when she went on a leave, naturally the fans were taken aback. And now the 40-year-old actress has decided not to make a comeback. Here are the details.
Disha and producers haven't been able to reach an agreement
According to a TellyChakkar report, Disha might not return to the show as the producers aren't ready to meet her demands for comeback. As it turns out, Disha has been asking for a change in working hours post her maternity leave and a huge hike in fee, but these terms aren't agreeable to the makers. Her current pay is Rs. 1.25 lakh per episode.
Disha opted for maternity leave in September, 2017
The dispute between Disha and show makers started two years back when she went on a maternity leave in September, 2017. She was blessed with a baby girl, Stuti, in November, the same year, and has not returned to the show since then. Until recently, reports of Disha returning to the show were doing the rounds, but now the comeback is unlikely to happen.
Disha got married to Mayur Padia in November, 2015
A graduate in Dramatics from Gujarat College in Ahmedabad, Disha has previously done small roles in Hindi films like Devdas and Jodhaa Akbar. She got married to Mumbai-based Chartered Accountant Mayur Padia in November, 2015.
Ami Trivedi might be the new 'Dayaben'
As per reports, Ami Trivedi, who is known for acting in shows like Sajan Re Jhoot Mat Bolo, and Chidiya Ghar might replace Disha on TMKOC. When asked about the same, she clarified that she has not been approached yet. "I have not been offered the role, nor the makers have tried to reach me out. It is a huge responsibility," she responded.
