For months now, speculations over Disha Vakani aka Dayaben's return on Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been a hot topic of discussion. While the fans are still hoping for her return, it seems that the decision has finally been made. Apparently, Disha is not returning to TMKOC. In fact, the makers have also, reportedly, started the process of replacing her. Here's more.
Goodbye Disha! Welcome, new face
Notably, Dayaben has been an integral part of TMKOC and it also helped Disha rise to fame. However, with Disha maintaining her prolonged silence over her return, the makers are keen to introduce a new Dayaben. "I'll have to start looking for a new Dayaben. No one is bigger than the show. TMKOC will go on with a new face," producer Asit Modi stated.
We can't wait forever for Disha, says Asit
For the uninitiated, Disha left TMKOC last year as she was pregnant. She expected to return post the birth of her baby. However, she extended her break and is still skeptical about her comeback. On the other hand, Asit feels that the TMKOC team has waited long enough for Disha. "We have given Disha leave, but we cannot wait forever," he added.
Meanwhile, initial process has started
Furthermore, Asit revealed that while they are looking for a new face to replace Disha on TMKOC, it isn't an overnight process. "Right now, we have started the initial process of auditioning for the character. We are still not sure what will happen in the future, but I would like to reiterate that the show must go on," Asit told Times of India.
Babita Ji speaks on Disha's replacement
As reports of Disha's replacement caught fire, many weighed in on the development. "Nobody can replace Disha as Daya Bhabhi. We all want her to come back. Whatever her decision is, but I cannot see anyone else as Daya," Disha's co-star Munmun Dutta, who plays the role of Babita Ji, asserted. This news will surely break the hearts of Disha's fans.
