'TMKOC' producer reveals truth behind differences with Disha Vakani
If there's anything the viewers of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah are waiting for, it's Disha Vakani aka Dayaben's return. She has been missing from the show for over a year now. While speculations about her comeback are rife, it was also reported that she, recently, had a fallout with the makers. However, producer Asit Modi vehemently denied these reports Here's what he said.
Backstory: Disha took a maternity break in 2017
For the uninitiated, Disha was last seen on TMKOC in 2017 after which she went on a maternity break. It was reported that she would be returning post the birth of her baby. However, she extended her break to focus on her daughter. "The shooting conditions are tough and since Disha's baby is still very young she needs her," Asit had stated back then.
Husband Mayur's 'interference' delayed Disha's return
Recently, it was reported that while Disha was willing to return, her husband Mayur Padia was interfering in her professional matters. According to a report published in Spotboye, Mayur created differences between Disha and the production house. In fact, he also claimed that the producers owe Disha some amount and demanded a hike in her fees. However, his claims were rubbished by the producers.
There are no money issues, confirms 'TMKOC' producer
During his recent interview with Bombay Times, producer Asit Modi rubbished the reports of any differences with Disha. Instead, he stated that his team was in touch with her and were waiting for her comeback. "There are no money issues because my team is in touch with her and any matter can be solved, amicably. I'm still waiting for her to return," he added.
But, TRPs not affected by Disha's absence
Asit further mentioned that while Disha hasn't been working with them for over a year, they are hoping for her to return soon. He also stated the viewers are constantly missing Dayaben's presence on TMKOC. However, Disha's absence hasn't affected the show's TRPs. "While my viewers are questioning the long absence of Dayaben, the ratings have not been affected," Asit was quoted saying.
Producers are thinking to replace Disha?
Meanwhile, producers are also agitated with Disha's long silence. In fact, they may end up replacing her soon. Asit asserted that they have given her enough time to decide whether she wants to return or not. "I believe that no actor is bigger than the show and everyone has to work professionally towards making it a success," he added.
