Disha Salian case reopened: How Sushant's ex-manager died
What's the story
Satish Salian, the father of Disha Salian, has approached the Bombay High Court seeking a fresh probe into his daughter's mysterious death.
He has sought a CBI probe and an FIR against Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray.
Salian's daughter, a talent manager once employed by late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, died on June 8, 2020, allegedly after falling from the 14th floor of a building in Malad, Mumbai.
Connection
Disha's death linked to Rajput's demise
Disha's death came just days before Rajput's own tragic end on June 14, 2020.
Her father has requested that the court transfer the investigation to the CBI for a more thorough probe.
The plea comes amid ongoing speculation about the circumstances surrounding Disha's death and its possible connection to Rajput's passing.
Rajput's fans (who call themselves SSRians) have once again stormed social media demanding justice for both the actor and his former manager.
Investigation update
What happened on the fateful night?
Disha (28) was organizing get-togethers at her residence in the run-up to her birthday.
The party on the night of her death (June 8) was also a part of this.
However, her friends revealed Disha was undergoing some emotional turmoil, saying things like, "No one cares for anyone anymore."
The celebrity manager apparently locked herself in a room post-crying and her friends found her fallen from the balcony when they broke down the door.
Allegations
Father alleged 'brutal rape and murder'
Despite rumors connecting Disha's death to Rajput's, no concrete evidence has been found to substantiate such claims.
Initially, Disha's father did not suspect foul play in his daughter's death, but he has since alleged that she was "brutally raped and murdered."
Initially registered as an Accidental Death Report (ADR), he alleges influential people were part of a conspiracy to cover up the truth.
Notably, CBI ruled her death an accident in 2022, dismissing any links to Rajput's demise.
Political response
Political reactions to Disha's father's plea
The plea for a fresh investigation into Salian's death has triggered political reactions.
Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson and former Mumbai mayor, Kishori Pednekar, asked why the issue is being raised after over four years.
BJP minister Nitesh Rane demanded that Thackeray "speak the truth" and resign as an MLA to face an investigation alleging that key evidence, like CCTV footage from Disha's building, had been destroyed and pages of the visitor register torn out.
Minister's response
Maharashtra minister urged Salian to submit evidence
Responding to the plea, Maharashtra's Minister of State for Home, Yogesh Kadam, urged Salian to submit any evidence he has to the Home Department.
Kadam assured that the probe would follow the High Court's directions without political interference.
Meanwhile, during the earlier investigation, Mumbai Police said Rajput had met Salian only once before her death and couldn't remember her when he heard about it.
