Why does this story matter?
An official adaptation of the acclaimed American crime series Ray Donovan, Rana Naidu featured a stellar cast including Venkatesh Daggubati, Rana Daggubati, Suchitra Pillai, Gaurav Chopra, and Surveen Chawla in the lead roles. Centered around the titular character, the 10-episode-long series' plot takes a thrilling turn with the unexpected release of his father from prison, plunging him into a whirlwind of chaos and challenges. The show was released in multiple languages, including Telugu and Hindi.
Morea's journey in the OTT space
Morea's addition to Rana Naidu marks another significant stride in his OTT career. The 48-year-old actor ventured into the digital realm with notable appearances in Mentalhood, Hostages, Tandav, and Kaun Banegi Shikharwati. However, it was his portrayal in The Empire (2021) that catapulted him to new heights, earning both commercial success and critical acclaim. His standout performance in the series earned him accolades, including the Indian Television Academy Awards.
Filming for S02 commenced last month: Report
Reportedly, filming for the second installment commenced last month, accompanied by viral pictures of Venkatesh from the sets. During the promotion of Saindhav last year, Venkatesh hinted at incorporating feedback for Season 2. He humorously remarked, "Naga Naidu (his character) is not a common man. People from across the world have been asking us to make a sequel." Addressing concerns, he assured, "This time, we'll be more careful without losing the touch of mischief the series is known for."
Meanwhile, here's a look at Venkatesh's upcoming ventures
Directed by Suparn Verma and Karan Anshuman, Rana Naidu marked the first collaboration between Rana and his uncle Venkatesh. Although production for Season 2 was originally scheduled to begin in January this year, the filming date has been delayed, due to unforeseen challenges in production. As of now, Netflix has yet to confirm any details regarding the cast or premiere dates for the series.
