Diljit Dosanjh won't support 'Punjab 95' if CBFC demands cuts
What's the story
The release of Punjab 95, featuring Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh, has been delayed as the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has yet to certify it.
Earlier, the CBFC had asked for 120 cuts to human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra's biopic, including the demand that Singh Khalra isn't named in the film.
While there were reports of things mending, nothing materialized.
Now, both Dosanjh and filmmaker Honey Trehan have threatened to withdraw their support if the cuts are made.
Public stance
'I hope some solution will come out...'
Speaking during a recent Instagram Live session, Dosanjh expressed his concerns over the proposed cuts.
He said, "I hope the film gets released in India soon. I will support only that film that will be released fully without any cuts."
"If you release the film without cuts, I will come; otherwise, with cuts, it doesn't matter. I hope some solution will come out and it will release in Punjab."
Director's stand
Trehan echoed Dosanjh's sentiments on film cuts
Trehan, the director of Punjab 95, also expressed his displeasure over CBFC's demands.
He said he won't be credited as the director if the movie releases with so many cuts.
In a social media post, Trehan said, "I don't support the unreasonable and politically colored demands of CBFC."
"I stand by my film and by my team...Justice will prevail soon and I hope the world sees the uncut film soon."
