With the deadly coronavirus outbreak engulfing the world, veteran Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar has been kept in self-imposed isolation, as a precautionary measure against the contagious infection. The 97-year-old legend shared the update on his Twitter account. Kumar said his wife and former actor Saira Banu is leaving no stone unturned in keeping him safe. Here's more.

Kumar also urged his fans to protect themselves by following precautions. He asked them to stay indoors and limit social exposure. "The coronavirus outbreak transcends all boundaries and borders," the former actor tweeted. Notably, the Devdas actor suffers from a number of ailments. Just last week, Saira had shared on Twitter that Kumar had undergone treatment at Mumbai's Lilavati hospital for severe backache.

It is only right that Kumar and his family are exercising restraint at such a crucial time, when the virus has affected thousands worldwide, including some prominent personalities. Last week, legendary Hollywood actor Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson were tested positive for novel coronavirus. Other celebrities who have contracted the virus include Idris Elba and Game of Thrones actor Kristofer Hivju.

The novel coronavirus, which originated in China last year and rapidly spread around the world has reportedly claimed the lives of 7,174 people and infected nearly 2 lakh. In India, the deadly virus has killed three people so far.
