Dil Raju to remake Venkatesh's hit 'Sankranthiki Vasthunnam' in Hindi
What's the story
Producer Dil Raju is apparently eyeing a Hindi remake of the Telugu blockbuster Sankranthiki Vasthunnam, Times Now reported.
The Anil Ravipudi directorial, which stars Venkatesh Daggubati, has been a massive box office success with collections exceeding ₹250cr.
This is a major feat as no senior actor's film has achieved such heights in a long time.
Remake rights
Raju retained Hindi remake rights; exploring possibilities
Raju has kept the Hindi remake rights of Sankranthiki Vasthunnam, a source close to the production house told the portal.
The source added that Raju is now looking at the possibilities of a Hindi version of the film.
He is apparently on the lookout for a popular star to play the lead and will start working on this project in the next few months.
Plot and hurdles
Salman Khan might lead 'Sankranthiki Vasthunnam' Hindi version
In Sankranthiki Vasthunnam, Venkatesh plays an ex-cop on a mission to capture a dangerous criminal. The film chronicles his hilarious journey with his wife and ex-girlfriend.
Going by the universal appeal of its storyline, Salman Khan looks like the perfect candidate to lead the Hindi remake. He has also been suggested by director Ravipudi.
But experts do see some challenges in this transformation.
One such hurdle is the current state of Khan's career, which might change with Sikandar's performance.
Casting speculation
Khan's casting remains a topic of interest
Khan's fanbase has also rejected most of his recent attempts at bringing remakes to life.
Despite the challenges, the idea of Khan starring in the remake has piqued interest in both Tollywood and Bollywood.
If Ravipudi and the producers manage to overcome these hurdles, the film could be a huge commercial success.
However, there is no official confirmation on this yet.
