Did 'Eternal Sunshine...' inspire Ananya's 'CTRL'
The hype around the upcoming Netflix film CTRL, starring Ananya Panday, is immense, thanks to its recently released intriguing trailer. However, as soon as the clip was released, fans began wondering if it's inspired by the 2004 Hollywood classic Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind. In a recent interview with News18 Showsha, director Vikramaditya Motwane has answered this question.
'CTRL isn't that': Motwane on comparisons with 'Eternal Sunshine...'
While acknowledging the influence of Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, Motwane emphasized that CTRL is not a replica. He praised Eternal... as a "masterpiece of our modern times," but clarified, "I've been generally influenced by that film... There's something about the writing of that film, which is fantastic. The direction and the acting are incredible... But CTRL isn't that."
'There's also a little bit of 'Her' in it'
Motwane candidly added, "The moment we wrote the film, we knew that they're going to ask us about Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind. But we're fine with it [the comparisons]. There's also a little bit of Her in it." Her is a sci-fi romantic movie starring Joaquin Phoenix and Scarlett Johansson (voice).
'CTRL' explores the dark side of social media
CTRL revolves around Nella Awasthi, a content creator with a significant online following, who decides to entrust her life to CTRL AI.
