Infuriated Diana Hayden hits back at Biplab Deb
Diana Hayden has slammed Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb for belittling her 1997 Miss World title win. She said that it is shameful of him to make such remarks and that she is proud of her brown skin. Deb had stated that Diana is not Indian enough to have won the beauty pageant. Here's more.
This is what Diana said
"I am fighting this brown skin bias since my childhood. I am a proud brown skinned Indian. Shame on him for making such comments. I am hurt. He's in a prominent position and should be careful about what he says," Diana was quoted as saying.
Deb courted controversy with his outrageous statements
Present at a design workshop in Agartala, Deb had said, "Indian beauty should ideally look like Goddesses Lakshmi and Saraswati. Diana Hayden did not deserve to win the Miss World crown. Actually, it was part of a fixed plan which was hatched keeping in mind the interests of the international market." He quipped, "Aishwarya Rai's victory was well deserved as she represents the quintessential Indian woman."
