Director Rajkumar Hirani's sexual harassment case has sent a shockwave across the industry. Hirani was accused of sexually harassing an assistant director who worked with him on Sanju. The allegations, once again, highlighted the dark side of the glamour world. In light of the developments, Sanju actress Dia Mirza said she is distressed by this incident and wants a formal inquiry to be conducted.
Backstory: Hirani violated me for six months, said the victim
Notably, the victim accused Hirani in an email she had sent to Vidhu Vinod Chopra, his wife Anupama, Sanju scriptwriter Abhijat Joshi and Shelly Chopra. In the mail, she wrote how Hirani first made a sexually suggestive remark in April last year and later assaulted her. "My mind, body, and heart were grossly violated that night and for the next 6 months," she added.
Mirza is distressed after allegations surfaced against Hirani
Just like every woman, Mirza is also upset with the incident and wants justice to prevail. "As someone who has known Raju Sir for 15 years, I hope that an official inquiry is conducted. He is one of the most decent human beings and I think it would be grossly unjust to speak on this as I don't know the details," she added.
Mirza shares a great bond with Hirani
To recall, Mirza shares a great camaraderie with Hirani on both personal and professional grounds. The actress has worked with Hirani twice, in Lage Raho Munnabhai in 2006 and in Sanju in 2008. She was all praises for his directorial skills.

Meanwhile, Hirani is shocked by the allegations and dismissed them vehemently. He called them malicious, being spread with an intention to destroy his image in the industry. "I was completely shocked when these allegations were brought to my notice about two months back. I had suggested immediately that it's essential to take this matter to any legal body," Hirani stated.
It's time for Bollywood to introspect
After much delay, the #MeToo movement came to Bollywood and highlighted power abuse in the glamor world. Power and position are grossly misused and the vulnerable ones are violated. While the women aren't shy of calling out sexual perpetrators now, it's high time that the industry introspects. We have heard enough talks. They should act now to make Bollywood a safer place for women.
