Dharma Productions expands into regional cinema

Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, in association with Adar Poonawalla, has launched a new venture to make its mark in the regional cinema.
The production house has hired Bhumika Tewari as the Head of Content Acquisition and Film Distribution Worldwide to lead the charge.
With this strategic move, the company hopes to diversify its portfolio with new and unique content from different parts of India.

Tewari's vision for Dharma Productions's expansion
Expressing her excitement about joining Dharma Productions, Tewari said in a statement, "This is an extraordinary opportunity to work with a team that has consistently redefined Indian cinema."
She added, "I am excited to expand Dharma's reach into new markets, champion regional storytelling, and amplify the diversity of content available to audiences."
Prior to Dharma Productions, Tewari was the Senior Vice President of Film Acquisition & Revenue at Zee Entertainment.

Dharma Productions's strategy for regional cinema expansion
As part of its expansion strategy, Dharma Productions is looking to acquire films in different regional languages including Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Malayalam, Punjabi, and Kannada.
The company also plans to set up regional offices in Delhi, Punjab (probably Chandigarh), Hyderabad, and Chennai.
These hubs will act as a platform to strengthen ties with local filmmakers and talent while building a strong distribution network for regional films.
