Dhanush donates ₹25L to CM Relief Fund for Wayanad victims
Tamil actor-director Dhanush has donated ₹25 lakh to the Kerala Chief Minister's Relief Fund to aid the victims of the recent Wayanad landslide. The devastating natural calamity, which occurred on July 30, resulted in significant destruction and loss of hundreds of lives. The news of Dhanush's contribution was shared by industry tracker Sreedhar Pillai on X (formerly Twitter).
Dhanush's donation lauded as 'heartwarming gesture'
Pillai praised Dhanush's donation, tweeting, "Dhanush donates ₹25 lakhs to Kerala CM Relief Fund for Wayanad. A heartwarming gesture!" Dhanush has joined a list of actors from the Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu film industries who have generously contributed to the cause. Other notable names include Vijay, Nayanthara, director Vignesh Shivan, Prabhas, Allu Arjun, Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan, Rashmika Mandanna, Mammootty, and Mohanlal.
Relief efforts underway in Wayanad
The Wayanad landslide was triggered by incessant rainfall and affected Mundakki, Chooralmala and Vellarimala villages. The disaster response has been significant with the army, police fire departments and volunteers working tirelessly to assist those affected. Medical staff have also been deployed for support and treatment. The Indian Army notably erected a 190-foot bridge in just 71 hours to facilitate crucial movement.
Dhanush's recent and upcoming projects
On the professional front, Dhanush was recently seen in Raayan, his 50th film as an actor and second as a director. He is set to appear in Sekhar Kammula's Kubera, alongside Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna, and Jim Sarbh. Dhanush is also directing a film titled Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam, which has been on hold for some time.
