The director also expressed his surprise at the positive reception of Dune: Part Two, which he attributed to its box office success.
Villeneuve felt 'disconnected' from audience during 'Dune: Part One'
Villeneuve admitted to feeling "disconnected" from the audience during the release of Dune due to the pandemic. "The thing is it was very moving because Part One was released at the end of the pandemic, so I didn't have a chance to be in contact with the audience." However, he felt a strong connection with viewers during Dune 2. "That went straight to my heart to see how much people were waiting for the film and ready to love it."
'Dune 3' plot will explore Chani's anger, promises Villeneuve
In a previous interview with The New York Times, Villeneuve hinted at the plot of Dune 3. He said, "That anger [felt by Zendaya's character at the end of Part Two] is tremendous." "I don't want to reveal what I'm going to do with the third movie. I know exactly what to do. I'm writing it right now. But there's a lot of firepower there, and I'm very excited about that decision."
'Dune 3' will deviate from original novel's storyline
Dune: Part Two concluded with Chani (Zendaya) venturing into the desert after Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet) announced his marriage to Princess Irulan (Florence Pugh). This narrative differs from Frank Herbert's original novel where Chani becomes Paul's concubine following their wedding.
