The night that her demons almost won
Demi overdosed on July 24 at her house and a frantic call was made to 911. She reportedly overdosed on heroin but this has been denied by a source close to her. She has had problems with cocaine and alcohol. Support poured in from fans and colleagues alike, who rallied around her.
Singers & drug abuse: The lunatic is in their heads
Demi's fight against substance abuse and mental health problems is inspirational but she isn't the only star fighting her demons. Ozzy Osbourne of Black Sabbath got fired in 1978 for heavy alcohol and drug abuse. Kurt Cobain of Nirvana had troubles with heroin before his suicide, and Syd Barrett of Pink Floyd is one of the most famous LSD casualties.
