    Demi Lovato, the 25-year-old American pop singer, recently opened up about her drug addiction problem. She was reportedly hospitalized on July 24, after an overdose.

    The Grammy-award nominee, broke her silence, thanking her fans, family and most importantly the staff at the hospital for supporting her during tough times.

    She asked for time to focus on sobriety, we hope she gets better soon.

    Demi opens up about her problems and the tough fight

    Demi had always been open about her substance abuse problem. She has also been struggling with a bipolar and eating disorder for some time.

    She thanked the people at Cedars-Sinai hospital, LA, where she was admitted after the overdose.

    Reportedly she was treated with a drug called Narcan, and will likely drop out of public eye for a while to focus on getting sober.

    The night that her demons almost won

    Demi overdosed on July 24 at her house and a frantic call was made to 911.

    She reportedly overdosed on heroin but this has been denied by a source close to her.

    She has had problems with cocaine and alcohol.

    Support poured in from fans and colleagues alike, who rallied around her.

    Demi's fight against substance abuse and mental health problems is inspirational but she isn't the only star fighting her demons.

    Kurt Cobain of Nirvana had troubles with heroin before his suicide, and Syd Barrett of Pink Floyd is one of the most famous LSD casualties.
