Fan's bid to marry Salman Khan ends in police custody
A 24-year-old woman from Delhi, who proudly declares herself a die-hard fan of Salman Khan, recently caused a disturbance outside the actor's Panvel farmhouse. With dreams of tying the knot with her favorite star, the enthusiastic fan insisted on meeting Khan. However, her plans hit a snag when local villagers at Vaje recorded the startling incident and alerted the Panvel taluka police station. Soon, the police detained the woman.
Woman was detained and transferred for counseling
While the incident unfolded at Khan's Panvel farmhouse, the actor was notably absent. Per a Times of India report, the passionate fan, captured on video, repeatedly expressed her desire to marry Khan. Following her detainment by the police, she was subsequently transferred to the New Panvel-based NGO, Social and Evangelical Association for Love (SEAL), for further counseling on May 22.
'She was fully in love with his screen image'
SEAL's founder, Pastor K M Philip, described her condition as "quite serious," noting "she was fully in love with his screen image." He revealed that the woman was admitted to MGM Hospital in Kalamboli for psychiatric treatment. Her mother in Delhi was contacted as the family was concerned about her traveling alone from Delhi to Navi Mumbai with the sole intention of marrying Khan. After eight days of treatment and psychological counseling, she expressed readiness to return home.
Woman reflected on actions, acknowledged misunderstanding
The woman reflected on her actions and acknowledged her misunderstanding. She told SEAL volunteers, "I have been watching Salman Khan films since childhood, and innocently thought I could marry him. Now, after coming to Panvel and undergoing all this (treatment), I have realized that I was wrong." "He (Khan) is living his own life, and is not the same as what he does in films," she said.
Other development: Planned attack on Khan thwarted by police
This incident follows a recent development where the Mumbai police thwarted a planned attack on actor Khan at his Panvel farmhouse, allegedly orchestrated by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, who sourced weapons from Pakistan. Four individuals linked to the plot were apprehended by the authorities. The Bishnoi gang is seeking retribution for the 1998 blackbuck incident involving Khan. This comes on the heels of a previous incident on April 14, where two assailants fired multiple rounds outside Khan's residence.
