Deepika to replace Kangana in 'Imali'? Director reveals truth
Due to their packed schedules, Bollywood actors often have to walk out of projects, leaving the makers as well as the fans perplexed as to who will be the new replacement. Something similar has happened with Anurag Basu's upcoming film, Imali. Now, it is being said that Kangana Ranaut has left the film, and Deepika might be the new leading lady. Here's why.
Kangana has left 'Imali' over schedule issues
As it turns out, Kangana, who was always the first choice for Basu's Imali has left the film over schedule clashes. "We were supposed to start in November but we couldn't, because she (Kangana) got busy with Manikarnika and Panga. She wanted to be in good space and time to do this film but things did not work out," revealed the filmmaker.
Basu approached Deepika, she might be the new lead
Of late, many reports suggested that Deepika would be the replacement for Kangana in the said film. And although the director has confirmed approaching her, he also added that nothing is finalized yet. "I cannot confirm till she confirms anything. I did meet her. She has to confirm it to me and then we can confirm it to others," stated Basu.
Meanwhile, Basu is currently working on an anthology film
Earlier, it was being speculated that Basu is making a sequel to his own 2007 film, Life In A... Metro. Brushing off the rumors, the director has clarified that the two films are not related. He adds that his current film is a dark comic anthology, featuring Abhishek Bachchan, Rajkummar Rao, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and others. The shooting will wrap up in 10-15 days.
