Bollywood power couple Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh welcomed their first child, a baby girl, on Sunday. The couple shared the news on Instagram with a post that reads, "Welcome baby girl!" The new parents, who got married in 2018 after several years of dating, announced their pregnancy in February 2024. Congratulations to them and their families!
Final days of Padukone's pregnancy and her maternity leave
In early September, the last stage of her pregnancy, Padukone shared a gorgeous maternity photoshoot on Instagram. Then, the couple was spotted seeking Lord Ganesha's blessings at the Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai. Meanwhile, a News18 report suggests that Padukone will be on maternity leave until March 2025 and post that, will resume work on the sequel to Kalki. The film also features Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Prabhas in pivotal roles.
Couple's new home nears completion
In addition to welcoming their baby, the couple is also reportedly planning to move into a luxurious apartment in Bandra. The apartment is situated next to Shah Rukh Khan's residence, Mannat. A recent video update showed the building nearing completion, with the couple's residence spanning floors 16 through 19 and offering a generous 11,266 square feet of living space plus an additional 1,300 square feet of private terrace.
Padukone and Singh's professional commitments
On the professional front, Padukone has been part of several recent films including Pathaan, Jawan, Fighter, and Kalki 2898 AD. She is also set to appear in Singham Again, which is scheduled for release during Diwali. Meanwhile, Singh is currently working on Aditya Dhar's upcoming espionage thriller featuring Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Akshaye Khanna. The film is based on true events from the history of R&AW.
