Deepika Padukone to be India's first female superhero!
Months after the release of 'Padmaavat', Deepika Padukone has finally signed a new project, said a media report. Although an official announcement is still awaited, the report states that the Deepika starrer will be India's first female superhero film and will be on the lines of Gal Gadot's 'Wonder Woman'. Here's all about it.
Rs. 300 crore: The expected budget for the film
It will be a franchise film and the makers are said to be working on the first two installments simultaneously. "Deepika's avatar is being fashioned after Gal Gadot's in 'Wonder Woman'. The developments have been kept under wraps with a creative team holding discreet meetings with Deepika regularly. Presently, a running bid is on for Rs. 300 crore among multiple investors," the report said.
A special superhero costume will be designed for Deepika
The report further added, "Deepika's superhero costume will be sexy, not contrived or gimmicky. Since she has an envious figure, a special outfit is being designed for her character which will be custom-made to facilitate hardcore physical combat and movement."
Deepika will undergo an extensive training process
It will be the most challenging role of Deepika's career so far. "The 32-year-old-actress will begin training extensively in mixed martial arts and different styles of hand-to-hand combat. Since this is a first-of-its-kind mega project, the timelines for pre-production will be long and the project will go on the floors next year," sources said.
Meanwhile, Deepika's film with Vishal Bhardwaj is currently on hold
Deepika was to start shooting for Vishal Bhardwaj's next film with Irrfan Khan in April this year. However, the film has been put on hold due to Irrfan's ill health. The untitled project is based on the book 'Mafia Queens of Mumbai'.
