Amid Padmavati row, Deepika drops out of Global Entrepreneurship Summit
Deepika Padukone, who has been the talk of the town for the controversy surrounding her upcoming movie 'Padmavati', has now pulled out of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES), that will see participation from US President Trump's daughter Ivanka and PM Narendra Modi. According to a source close to the actress, Deepika has refused to attend the event. However, the reason is still not clear.
Here's what happened
Deepika was expected to speak at a session on 'Hollywood to Nollywood to Bollywood: The Path to Moviemaking' on November 29. "Earlier Deepika Padukone was expected to be in that session but now she has declined," said Jayesh Ranjan, Secretary, Information Technology, Government of Telangana. Now, the new list of speakers has to be worked upon.
Is this Deepika's way of showing angst?
Deepika starrer magnum opus 'Padmavati' is going through its worst time. The film has become a butt of criticism with the political parties joining hand against it. Some BJP leaders and right-wing groups have threatened to behead the actress and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Few have even announced rewards for killing them. Perhaps, this is her way of showing her anger.
