Actors are one of the most recognized groups of people on the planet, but there are not many who can claim the kind of fame David Schwimmer enjoyed. For ten years between 1994-2004, Schwimmer was at the peak of television. He was one of the leads of a show that defined an era. Born on November 2, 1966, in New York, Schwimmer played an active part in school productions during his time at the Beverly Hills High School. He dreamt of beginning his career as an actor right after school, but upon the insistence of his parents, he joined Northwestern University. After graduating from Northwestern in theater and speech, he co-founded the Lookingglass Theater Company. Schwimmer’s first time on television was an uncredited role in ‘Police Squad!’ in 1982. He made his actual debut in ABC’s TV movie ‘A Deadly Silence’ in 1989. In 1991, he made his feature film debut in ‘Flight of the Intruder.’ His breakthrough came in 1994 when he was cast as Dr. Ross Geller in the NBC sitcom ‘F.R.I.E.N.D.S.’ During the ten-season run of the show, Schwimmer, along with the rest of the ‘F.R.I.E.N.D.S.’ rose to global fame. Schwimmer’s directorial debut was the TV movie ‘Since You’ve Been Gone’ (1998). He has also directed ten episodes of ‘Friends.’ In 2007, he directed his first feature film ‘Run Fatboy Run.’ Schwimmer has been nominated for three Emmy Awards. He has also been nominated for seven Screen Actors Guild Awards and has won one (1996).
