David Beckham reveals his workout routine ahead of turning 50
What's the story
David Beckham, the iconic footballer who was once named People's "Sexiest Man Alive," is showing us that age is nothing but a number.
Even though he has been retired for more than a decade and will turn 50 in May, Beckham hasn't given up on his fitness.
According to Tribune News Service, he is said to be bulking up and improving his athleticism with five to six days of workouts a week.
Fitness evolution
Beckham's fitness journey post-retirement
In a February conversation with Men's Health magazine, Beckham revealed details about his fitness journey post-retirement.
He said he was content with his current physique, saying, "My body's actually feeling better than it has done for a long time."
When quizzed about what hurts the most, he said, "It's actually the lower left side of my back and my left hip that give me the most grief."
Injury recovery
Beckham's Achilles injury is no longer a concern
Beckham also spoke about his Achilles injury, which plagued him toward the latter part of his playing days.
"My Achilles was a bad injury toward the end of my playing career, but it never troubles me now, despite rupturing it," he said.
This clearly highlights how well he has recovered and his commitment to staying active even after hanging up his boots.
Appreciates new trainer
Beckham credits it all to his new trainer
Beckham also praised his personal trainer, Bobby Rich, for transforming his workout routine.
He admitted that during his football career, he only focused on leg strength and never paid attention to his upper body. However, since working with Rich, he has gained muscle and noticed significant changes, especially in his chest.
The former footballer also shared that he finally convinced his popstar-wife, Victoria Beckham, to work out with Rich, and now they train together five to six days a week.
Turning 50
Turning 50 doesn't bother Beckham
Beckham isn't worried about turning 50. He shared that people keep asking him about it like it's a big deal, but for him, staying fit and keeping his family healthy is what truly matters.
Beckham plans to celebrate his milestone birthday in a simple way—surrounded by close friends, enjoying good food and wine.
He emphasized that as long as he feels strong and healthy, age is just a number to him.
