It is almost impossible to describe Daniel Dae Kim, the actor. It is as impossible as describing Daniel Dae Kim the producer. He is someone who has made it a habit to break barriers and stereotypes. With his rugged looks and an eye for detail, he has managed to carve a place for himself in the crowd. Kim was born on August 4, 1968, in Busan, South Korea. His family moved to the US when he was one year old. He grew up in New York and Pennsylvania. It was when he studied at Haverford College that he became interested in acting. After graduating with a double major in theater and political science, Kim earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from NYU’s Graduate Acting Program. He made his acting debut in the 1991 film ‘American Shaolin.’ He then appeared in many television series and minor roles in films such as ‘The Jackal,’ ‘Hulk,’ ‘Spider-Man 2,’ etc. Kim received his big break when he was cast as Jin-Soo Kwon in the ABC series ‘Lost’ in 2004. He was part of the series till its finale in 2010. In 2013, he established his production company 3AD. He has been involved as an actor and an executive producer in the ABC drama ‘The Good Doctor.’ Kim and the cast of ‘Lost’ won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Ensemble in a Drama Series in 2006. People Magazine named him one of the ‘Sexiest Men Alive’ in 2005.
