China's IMDb ranks Aamir's Dangal No. 1 film of 2017
There seems to be no stopping for Dangal, as even after one year of its release, the film still continues to be on the top. The Aamir Khan starrer continues to top charts in China too. According to reports, Dangal has now been ranked number one in an annual survey conducted by the China's IMDb. Dangal is the first film to receive such recognition.
The rise and rise of Dangal
Aamir Khan's Dangal became the second Indian film, after Baahubali 2, to cross the Rs. 2,000 crore mark worldwide. Dangal was released as Shuai Jiao Baba (Let's Wrestle Dad) in China on 5th May. It also became the fifth highest-grossing non-English movie ever.
About the film 'Dangal'
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Dangal narrates the true story of Indian wrestler, Mahavir Phogat. Aamir plays the role of Phogat, who taught his two daughters, Geeta (played by Fatima Sana Shaikh) and Babita (played by Sanya Malhotra), wrestling. Dangal was critically acclaimed and won top awards at the 62nd Filmfare Awards including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor (Aamir Khan), and Best Action.
