Box office: 'Crew' nears the curtain call amid declining figures
The Bollywood heist comedy Crew, featuring stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu, and Kriti Sanon, is approaching its conclusion after a successful one-month stint in theaters. Released on March 29, the film made a smashing debut and pulled in over ₹75cr domestically during its run. However, as it nears its end, the film is now bringing in less than ₹50 lakh, indicating a significant drop in box office earnings.
Collections dropped drastically over the weeks
Crew started off with robust collections of ₹9.25cr on the first day, ₹9.75cr on the second day, and ₹10.5cr on the third day. However, from the fourth day onwards, earnings began to decline. Despite the initial decline, Crew saw a slight increase in its second week. Unfortunately, the third week witnessed another dip. The fourth week continued this trend with collections dwindling to just ₹48 lakh by Day 21 and a mere ₹75 lakh by Day 31 (Sunday).
Audience turnout and total domestic collection
After a successful 31-day run, Crew has amassed a total domestic collection of ₹78.5cr, according to Times Now. As reported by Sacnilk, the comedy heist film maintained an overall 20% Hindi Occupancy on Sunday, with the highest turnout observed during evening shows at 26.74%. Directed by Rajesh Krishnan, the film is produced by Ektaa Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor, the same team behind Veere Di Wedding. Additionally, the supporting cast includes Diljit Dosanjh and Kapil Sharma.
When will 'Crew' stream online?
Now that its theatrical run has concluded, all attention shifts to its streaming debut. According to reports, Netflix has acquired the streaming rights for Crew. Similar films like Fighter, Animal, and Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya made their OTT debut two months after their theatrical release. Therefore, it's expected that Crew will follow suit, likely making its digital premiere in May. However, an official confirmation of the date is still awaited.
