This year, Bollywood has seen some of the biggest fall-outs and controversies. From people going out of their way to spark off a debate to some desperate attention-seekers, who just wished to feature on news channels, it was quite an year for the glamor world. Karan, Kangana and the 'N' word
It started when Karan dug his own grave by inviting Kangana to his talk-show 'Koffee with Karan', where she unabashedly accused him of being 'the flagbearer of nepotism'. There was no end to the nepotism debate after that. It also became a butt of jokes in the IIFA awards. Everything said and done, we now know one should never argue with Kangana. Is Hrithik listening?
'Azaan' not music to Sonu Nigam's ears
In April, singer Sonu Nigam, who was away from the limelight for a long time, posted a cryptic tweet expressing his angst towards the loudspeakers that are used in mosques for 'azaan' and other religious purposes. Several people from Bollywood stood against his opinion and the comment was not received well by certain religious groups. Some even gave a communal angle to this incident.
Akshay Kumar-Mallika Dua fiasco
Even Akshay Kumar was not spared this year! As a co-judge on the show 'The Great India Laughter Challenge', he jokingly commented on Mallika Dua, He said, "Aap bell bajao, main aap ko bajata hun." Soon after this, veteran journalist and Mallika's father took to Twitter to criticize Akshay's insensitive remarks. This was followed by a word-war between his wife, Twinkle Khanna and Mallika.
Mira Rajput's 'puppy remark'
Mira Rajput, 'the girl from another world', as her Instagram bio says, made a remark about working women which was not well received by 'people of this world'. She was criticized for her regressive outlook. She received flak not just from some Bollywood ladies but her own classmate from LSR slammed her for the derogatory remarks. She has been awfully quiet since then.
But, the biggest controversy of the year is 'Padmavati'
Every day is a challenge for the makers of 'Padmavati' as the controversies are in no mood to leave their way. Till now they have not received any clarity if the movie would be released or not. Now only time will tell, whether the sun will ever shine on 'Padmavati'. Sanjay Leela Bhansali would want to erase the year 2017 from his life!
