'SOTY 2': Chunky Panday defends daughter Ananya in nepotism debate
The nepotism debate resurfaced after Ananya Panday was announced as one of the lead actresses of 'Student Of The Year 2'. Now, being a protective father, Chunky Panday has come out in her daughter's defense. He said that Ananya went through the entire drill to bag the project and it had absolutely nothing to do with him. Here's more on what he said.
"She auditioned along with 1,000 girls"
While interacting with a publication, Chunky said, "Most of the times, people don't even know what they are talking about. My daughter has auditioned along with 1,000 girls for SOTY 2. She actually went through the process and got it." "You can't imagine the number of people who were trying out for the role and who couldn't make it," he added.
He too had a similar experience in the beginning
Recalling his own early days, Chunky said, "I remember when I had gotten into the film industry, my parents were very friendly with (actor) Rekha ji. And when I got my first film (Aag Hi Aag; 1987), people said, 'Rekha must have helped him get this film'." "It was produced by Pahlaj Nihalani and he didn't even know Rekha ji socially," he added.
'SOTY 2' will hit the screens in November
Starring Tiger Shroff and another debutant Tara Sutaria alongside Ananya, 'Student Of The Year 2' will hit the screens on November 23. Karan Johar has passed the director's baton to Punit Malhotra this time.
