India has one of the greatest film cultures: Christopher Nolan
Maverick Hollywood filmmaker Christopher Nolan, who is in India to stress on the importance of film preservation, confessed that he enjoys watching Indian movies and would love to see more of them. Nolan also said that he wants to learn more about one of the greatest film cultures of the world by interacting with industry people.
What propelled Nolan to come to India?
While interacting with media-persons, the 'Dunkirk' director said, "I want to spread the message about reframing the feature films as broadly as possible. And India being one of the greatest film cultures of the world is an essential part of that." "The other reason why I came here is a bit selfish. I wanted to meet Indian filmmakers and learn more about India."
Oscar-nominated director is in awe of legendary Satyajit Ray
"I have had the pleasure of watching Mr. Satyajit Ray's 'Pather Panchali' recently, which I hadn't seen before. I think it is one of the best films ever made. It is an extraordinary piece of work," Nolan said.
About his shooting experience in India
The 47-year-old director had previously flown to India to film a pivotal sequence of 'The Dark Knight Rises' in Jodhpur. "I had a wonderful time and would love to come back to shoot for longer," he said. Nolan has so far met superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Kamal Haasan and is looking forward to interacting with other prominent personalities as well.
