With 'Vice', Christian Bale proves he's a master of transformations
Christian Bale is one of the few Hollywood talents who go above and beyond for every role. What is amazing is his ability to transform his physical appearance as the roles demand. He has gone from thin, to ripped to outright fat. In his latest film, he went on another journey to transform his body as he stepped into former US Vice President, Dick Cheney's shoes.
Bale becomes Dick Cheney for 'Vice'
'Vice' is the latest film directed by Adam McKay, who is famous for his Oscar-winning film, 'The Big Short'. Produced by Annapurna Pictures, the film is slated to release on December 25 and might be a steady contender for 2019's Oscars. 'Vice' follows the meteoric rise of Dick Cheney to one of the most famous Vice Presidents in the US history.
Meet the star cast of the film
The film, which is McKay's take on the life story of Cheney will see Bale star as the protagonist. His co-star from 'American Hustle', Amy Adams, returns to play Lynne Cheney, the wife of the 46th Vice President of the US. Other notable cast members include Steve Carell who plays Donald Rumsfeld and Sam Rockwell portraying George W. Bush.
Comfortably stepping into everyone's skins
While McKay's film will release its first trailer on October 4, some of the pictures show Bale having put on weight to look like Cheney. This is not the first time he underwent a body transformation for a role. Notably, he lost tremendous weight for 'The Machinist' and put on almost as much for 'American Hustle'. As an effortless adaptive actor, Bale is inspirational.
Look to new horizons in films
McKay was previously known for comedy movies, like Will Ferrell's 'Anchorman' or 'Talladega Nights'. However, 'The Big Short', exploring the real estate crash, marked a turn towards serious stories for the director. Seeing its success, one might hope the same for his latest project, 'Vice'.
