This B!tch Lyin': Chris Brown slams rape accuser for defamation
Chris Brown is a popular American singer with hits like Loyal, With You and Look At Me Now. However, in a setback to the singer, Brown was arrested in Paris on Monday, January 21, on rape charges along with his friend and bodyguard. Not only did he deny these allegations but has now slammed the rape accuser with a defamation suit. Here's more.
Parisian model accused Brown of rape in hotel room
Closer Magazine reported an interview with the 24-year-old model who went by the pseudonym 'Karima'. She said that she met Brown on January 15 night in Paris' Mandarin Oriental Hotel. She then accompanied him to the Le Crystal club. Karima alleged that Brown then convinced her to return to his hotel suite where she was assaulted by him, his friend and his bodyguard.
Brown denied charges, posts picture on Instagram with caption
Meanwhile, Brown not only vehemently denied the charges against him but also made his stance public. He posted a picture on Instagram titled 'This B!tch Lyin'. He captioned it, "I WANNA MAKE IT PERFECTLY CLEAR...... THIS IS FALSE AND A WHOLE LOT OF CAP! NNNNNNNEEEEEEEEEEVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEERRRRRR!!!!!! FOR MY DAUGHTER AND MY FAMILY THIS IS SO DISPRESPECTFUL AND IS AGAINST MY CHARACTER AND MORALS!!!!!"
Brown has since then removed his Instagram post
Brown was initially outraged and lashed out on Instagram, venting his frustrations in front of fans and followers. However, since then, the American musician has removed the post where he accused the alleged rape survivor of lying, from his profile.
Despite no Instagram post, Brown has sued woman for defamation
Brown, however, is not backing down in real life. His lawyer in Paris, Raphael Chiche, has filed a defamation suit against the model, claiming "The facts are totally challenged by Mr. Brown and are insufficient to prosecute". Notably, French courts dictate the defendant has to prove the statement true, so the alleged rape survivor will have to provide evidence to prove the statement's truth.
Brown believes his history makes him easy target for accusers
Notably Brown has a long line of criminal charges against him. In 2009, he pleaded guilty to assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna whose bruised face appeared in shocking images. In 2016, Brown was arrested for pointing a gun at a woman in Los Angeles. Brown believes, according to a source, that his 'issues in the past' made him 'an easy target for anyone to cry wolf'.
