'Chhaava' to become highest-grossing Indian film in Mumbai
What's the story
The historical drama Chhaava, directed by Laxman Utekar and starring Vicky Kaushal in the lead, has recently been crowned Maharashtra's highest-grossing movie. The film has surpassed Pushpa 2's box office collection in the state.
Now, it aims to break a similar record of Pushpa 2 in the Mumbai Circuit. After 16 days of release, Chhaava has already amassed a whopping ₹222cr net in this region.

₹50 crore stands between 'Chhaava' and new record
Currently, Chhaava is only behind Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2, which tops the highest-grossing movies in Mumbai Circuit with over ₹275cr net. To dethrone it, Chhaava needs to earn more than ₹50cr.
With a clear run at least till Eid 2025, trade experts think the film has enough potential not just to break this record but also to set a new benchmark.

'Chhaava' success boosts Kaushal's career prospects
The success of Chhaava has further cemented Kaushal's place as a dependable actor in Bollywood. Trade experts believe this will pave the way for him to lead more ambitious projects in the future.
His performance in Chhaava is his best opening yet, even better than Uri, which opened in single digits.
This success is credited to a mix of factors, including the production team, producers, director, and historical appeal.
