
Vicky Kaushal's 'Chhaava' leaked online, faces legal complaint over piracy
What's the story
The Mumbai Police have registered an FIR in connection with the alleged piracy of the Vicky Kaushal-starrer Chhaava.
An FIR was registered after a complaint was filed by Rajat Rahul Haksar, CEO of August Entertainment, an anti-piracy agency.
According to Hindustan Times, Haksar claimed that Chhaava was illegally distributed through "1,818 internet links."
The case has been registered at South Cyber Police Station under CR No 23/2025.

Charges filed against 'Chhaava' piracy suspects
The case against the suspects involved in the illegal distribution of Chhaava is being pursued under several sections of the law.
These include Sections 316(2) and 308(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Sections 51, 63, and 65A of the Copyright Act, Section 6AA of the Cinematograph Act, 1952 (Amendment 2023), and Sections 43 and 66 of the Information Technology Act.

'Chhaava' has surpassed ₹500 crore at box office
Meanwhile, Chhaava continues to perform exceptionally well at the box office, having collected around ₹572.95 crore in five weeks.
Directed by Laxman Utekar, the film is based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and also stars Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna in lead roles.
This box office success makes Chhaava Kaushal's highest-earning film to date, overtaking his past hits Uri: The Surgical Strike, Raazi, Sam Bahadur, and Zara Hatke Zara Bachke.
National recognition
Prime Minister Modi praised 'Chhaava's success
Chhaava's success hasn't gone unnoticed at the national level. Prime Minister Narendra Modi appreciated the film during the 98th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan in New Delhi.
Noting Maharashtra's contribution to cinema, he said, "Aur in dino toh, Chhaava ki dhoom machi hui hai (These days, it's all Chhaava's glory)."
The film is based on Marathi author Shivaji Sawant's novel Chhava, which brought the legacy of Sambhaji Maharaj to the fore.
