Controversy

Despite its commercial success, Chhaava has been mired in controversy for its depiction of historical events.
The film has been connected to recent violence in Nagpur, with some alleging that it sparked anti-Mughal sentiments.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis weighed in on the matter and said the film "ignited anger against Aurangzeb," hinting at a link between the movie's narrative and the recent violence.
Defense
Fans defended 'Chhaava' amid controversy
In defense of the film and the actor, fans and supporters of Kaushal have stepped up to bat. They claim that blaming Chhaava for the violence was "misguided."
Despite calls for a boycott, Chhaava fans noted that if the cast and crew were responsible for inciting violence, then the responsibility also fell on the censor board that passed the film, and the politicians who praised it and urged others to watch it.
