'Chhaava' censorship: 'Haramzaada' word muted, religious term altered
What's the story
The much-awaited film Chhaava, featuring Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna, and Akshaye Khanna is all set to hit theaters on Friday.
Chhaava is a biographical drama based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the Maratha Emperor and son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Ahead of its release, the movie has received a U/A 16+ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) after multiple changes.
These include replacing dialogues and removing scenes.

'Chhaava' underwent dialogue replacements and scene removals
Per Bollywood Hungama, on CBFC's orders, the film's dialogue "Mughal sultanat ka zehar" was changed to "Uss samay, kayi shaasak aur sultanat khud ko zinda rakhne ki koshish kar rahe the."
Another line, "Khoon toh aakhir Mughalon ka hi hai" was altered to "Khoon toh hai Aurang ka hi."
The words "haramzaadon" and "haramzaada" were muted while the word "Aameen" was replaced with "Jai Bhavani."
Age adjustments
CBFC also demanded age-related dialogue changes
CBFC also asked for age-related dialogue changes.
Like, "16 saal" was replaced with "14 saal," "22 saal ka ladka" was changed to "24 saal ka ladka," and "9 saal" was modified to "kayi saal."
Along with the dialogue and scene changes, the CBFC also asked the makers to add an audio-text disclaimer to the film.
It mentions the name of the book from which Chhaava is adapted and explains that it doesn't intend to defame anyone or distort historical facts.
Film release
'Chhaava' is set to release on February 14
Per the report, the censor certificate was issued on February 1 after these changes were made.
The final runtime of Chhaava, according to the censor certificate, is 161.50 minutes or nearly two hours and 42 minutes.
The film, helmed by Laxman Utekar, who previously directed Luka Chuppi (2019) and Zara Hatke Zara Bachke (starring Kaushal opposite Sara Ali Khan) will hit theaters on Friday.
