Four years of 'Jolly LLB 2': Some interesting facts
Akshay Kumar-starrer Jolly LLB 2 tackled the issue of a fake encounter and its legal aftermath. A quasi sequel to the 2013 film Jolly LLB, it tells the story of advocate Jagdishwar Mishra aka Jolly (played by Kumar). In the beginning, he is a carefree man but eventually matures into someone who is ready to take on the high and mighty. Here is more.
The film boasted of an impeccable story and star cast
The film's cast was studded with brilliant actors like Annu Kapoor, Saurabh Shukla, Kumud Mishra, and Huma Qureshi, among others. It showed how Kumar's Jolly, a man with questionable morals, eventually goes a long way in order to do the right thing. The movie was released on February 10, 2017. As Jolly LLB 2 completes four years, here are some interesting facts about it.
Sayani Gupta makes a special appearance in the film
Before gaining wider recognition for her role in the Amazon Prime Video show Four More Shots Please, actor Sayani Gupta did a lot of small roles in many movies. In this movie, she played the pregnant widow of the man wrongly convicted and then encountered by corrupt policemen. Even though it is a small part, it gets the ball rolling for the entire story.
Annu Kapoor had once 'defended' Kumar on the screen
With Jolly LLB 2, Annu Kapoor once again proved his mettle as an actor. In the film, we see him go head-to-head with Kumar in intense courtroom battles. Interestingly, one other time that he had played a lawyer, Kumar played his client. In the 2004 movie Aitraaz, Kapoor's lawyer character defended Kumar in court against false charges of sexual harassment.
The film got embroiled in legal trouble
The film had to face legal trouble, after Nanded-based advocate Ajaykumar Waghmare filed a petition, saying the film was "nothing but an attempt to portray the Indian legal profession and judicial system as a laughing stock to the society at large (sic)." The matter went to court and the makers were asked to delete four scenes, after which the movie was re-certified.
Bata had slammed a defamation case against the movie's team
The makers also had to face trouble when famous footwear manufacturing company Bata slammed a defamation case against the producers and the actors of the movie. The company had claimed that derogatory remarks were made against its brand. Kumar is seen wearing only one type of shoes in the movie, Kapoor makes a comment at it. That did not sit well with the company.
