CDR case: Bombay HC orders release of lawyer Rizwan Siddiqui
Lawyer Rizwan Siddiqui, who was taken into custody by the Mumbai Police on March 16, has now been released on the order of the Bombay High Court. The celebrity advocate has been accused of extracting Nawazuddin Siddiqui's wife's call details from a bunch of private detectives. Names of Kangana Ranaut and Ayesha Shroff have also cropped in the Call Data Records (CDR) scam.
Here's what the lawyer said post his release
"I have no information about what was happening with me from last five days. I have faith in the judiciary. The High Court order speaks for itself. I won't speak anything about CDR, won't disclose client details," Rizwan said.
The CDR racket was busted in January
The Thane crime branch had unearthed the CDR racket on 24 January. Several private detectives were nabbed by the cops for being involved in the illegal procurement and sale of CDRs of individuals. Post Siddiqui's arrest, his wife moved the High Court claiming that her husband was taken into custody without a notice.
