CBFC orders 'Mr Bachchan' must replace Amitabh-Rekha poster with Amitabh-Jaya
Ravi Teja's upcoming Telugu film, Mr Bachchan, has been asked to make significant changes by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) ahead of its release on Thursday (August 15). The film is an official remake of Ajay Devgn's 2018 movie Raid. Among the requested modifications, one that caught the media's attention was the replacement of a poster featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha, which appeared during the end credits.
All the changes suggested by CBFC for 'Mr Bachchan'
According to a Bollywood Hungama report, the CBFC has recommended several changes to Mr Bachchan. These include the addition of a disclaimer stating that the film is fictional and not based on any real person or place. The board also asked for the removal or replacement of certain abusive words, and a one-second scene depicting blood was cut. A two-minute scene showing a child smoking was altered, with the beedi replaced by a pencil.
Poster change and film certification
The film's end credits originally included a poster of Bachchan and Rekha, which has now been replaced with a poster of Bachchan and his wife-actor, Jaya Bachchan. Following these changes, the CBFC granted the film a U/A certificate on Tuesday. Despite these modifications, the makers of Mr Bachchan have not yet issued a statement. The film is set to compete at the box office with Ram Pothineni and Sanjay Dutt's Double iSmart.
'Mr Bachchan' cast and runtime
Directed by Harish Shankar, Mr Bachchan stars Teja in the lead role, with Jagapathi Bapu as the antagonist. Chandu Champion actor Bhagyashri Borse will be seen as the female lead. The film has a runtime of over two hours and 30 minutes. To note, the film is a remake of a Bollywood movie, but it's far from a scene-by-scene copy, as the makers previously clarified.
