Decoding the poster: The significance of the aircraft
The poster shows us Captain Marvel in her superhero outfit displaying her powers, while the background shows two types of aeroplanes. One is a military jet undoubtedly referring to Carol's start of her career as an Air Force pilot. The other shows an alien aircraft perhaps signalling her time as a feared member of the alien elite Kree military unit called Starforce.
When is the trailer dropping
While Marvel Studios released the poster on December 2, the second trailer will air today. It will reportedly debut on ESPN during the halftime of Monday Night Football. Notably, the news was first reported by industry pundits, John Campea and Daniel RPK of Super Bro Movies. The first trailer had debuted in September to massive applause from fans eager to know Danvers' origin story.
What is the movie all about?
Set in the 1990s, the film follows the story of Danvers as she dons the mantle of Captain Marvel. The solo origin story will trace her journey from the Air Force to the alien Kree race. Set in a previously unseen period of Marvel's universe, the movie will show the battle between the Kree and Skrull races as Danvers finds herself caught in between.
The people behind the movie
Directed by Ryan Fleck, the film also stars Jude Law, Gemma Chan, Ben Mendelsohn, Annette Bening, Clark Gregg with Samuel L. Jackson returning as a younger version of Nick Fury. The film will hit theaters on March 8, 2019.
