    What's the story

KBC 11 had its grand premiere yesterday.

Amid all the pomp and splendor, it was a revelation made by its host Amitabh Bachchan that caught everyone's attention.

During the show, a contestant was asked a question about Kolkata, and that was when Bachchan disclosed his first pay cheque.

To note, Kolkata was where the megastar started his professional life before shifting to Mumbai.

    Struggle

Big B got paid Rs. 500 in his first job

It so happened that a contestant was asked the location of Victoria Memorial, and after she answered it correctly (Kolkata), Bachchan made this revelation.

Recalling those days, the veteran actor said that his first job as a managing executive in the city paid him Rs. 500.

He worked there for 7-8 years, before moving to Mumbai.

The rest, as they say, is history.

    Information

Bachchan is 12th in 'World's Most Admired Men 2019' list

Interestingly, Bachchan today sits atop a net worth of $400mn, making him the 6th richest actor globally. He has also secured the 12th rank in 'World's Most Admired Men 2019,' beating the likes of Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Donald Trump.

    Journey

Bachchan is associated with 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' since its inception

Coming back to KBC, Big B has been associated with it since its inception in 2000.

The second season came after a gap of four years.

For the third season, Star TV recruited SRK as the host, but the ratings dropped significantly, forcing Bachchan's return in its fourth season.

But did you know he was advised against taking up the show as its host?

    History

Everyone felt I should not go on TV, he revealed

"It was just a coincidence. The channel came about with this idea. Circumstances were such that everyone felt I should not go there (on TV) especially people from my home but I just felt that this was something new," Bachchan was quoted as saying.

The 76-year-old followed his instincts, becoming the first superstar to host a TV show.

Today, KBC is unthinkable without him.

    Upcoming movies

For now, he's looking forward to his two big releases

Meanwhile, apart from KBC, Bachchan is gearing up for his two big releases this year: Surender Reddy's Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy with South superstar Chiranjeevi in lead and Nagraj Manjule's Jhund.

Besides, he is working on Ayan Mukerji's much-anticipated fantasy drama, Brahmastra, also starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Mouni Roy.

Bachchan will also share the screen with Ayushmann Khurrana in Gulabo Sitabo.
