Bullets fired outside AP Dhillon's house; Bishnoi-Godara gang takes responsibility
A shooting incident was reported outside renowned Punjabi singer and rapper AP Dhillon's home in Canada on Sunday. Per reports, a member of the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi-Rohit Godara gang has taken responsibility for firing shots. The singer's house is located on Victoria Island in Vancouver. The gang has warned Dhillon to "stay within his limits or he will meet a 'dog's death,'" referencing his alleged connections with Salman Khan, reported India Today.
Threats came in the wake of Dhillon's music video
The threat comes in the wake of Dhillon's recent music video Old Money, which features Khan. This incident follows a similar shooting outside Khan's Galaxy Apartment in Mumbai's Bandra on April 14. The subsequent arrests in this case revealed connections to the Bishnoi gang, leading the Mumbai Police to invoke the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) against all involved in the shooting.
Previous incidents involving the Bishnoi gang
To recall, in November 2023, the incarcerated gangster Lawrence claimed responsibility for a reported shooting incident at singer Gippy Grewal's residence in Vancouver, Canada. The gang has previously targeted individuals associated with the actor, citing his involvement in the 1998 blackbuck hunting—during the shooting of Khan's Hum Saath - Saath Hain—case as their motivation. Notably, blackbuck is a species revered by the Bishnoi community.
Bishnoi gang's involvement in previous shooting incidents
The Bishnoi gang has been linked to several high-profile shootings in the past. In the Galaxy Apartment case, it was disclosed that gangster Lawrence's brother, Anmol Vishnoi, played a key role in motivating the shooters. Following the incident, the Mumbai Crime Branch filed a 1,735-page chargesheet under MCOCA against six arrested accused and three wanted accused, including gang leader Lawrence.
AP Dhillon's recent work and future plans
Meanwhile, on the professional front, Dhillon, who shot to fame with songs like Summer High and Dil Nu, recently released his highly-anticipated new EP The Brownprint. Known for his unique fusion of Punjabi music and contemporary sounds, Dhillon announced the release of The Brownprint on his Instagram handle. As of now, the singer has not issued any public statements regarding the shooting incident.
