BTS's 'Dynamite' sets another Guinness World Record
The South Korean boyband BTS, which is making waves globally, has now added another feather to its hat. On Tuesday, the Guinness World Records announced that the septet has secured another record with their song Dynamite. The track now holds the record for the 'Most Simultaneous Viewers For A Music Video On YouTube Premieres' with more than three million concurrent viewers.
Announcement was withheld until YouTube gave confirmation
Considering the immense popularity of BTS, the record hardly came as a surprise. The video of Dynamite had released in August 2020, but the Guinness World Records organization had to hold the announcement until they got confirmation from YouTube. When they finally received the information, the record was revealed. Taking a jibe, the organization said the announcement was "the worst kept secret in history."

The BTS ARMY was elated after the news surfaced
The BTS ARMY brigade on Twitter was understandably elated with the news and showered the tweet with likes and comments. One comment read, "You should make separate Guinness book for BTS records, (sic)" to which the official handle of Guinness World Records replied, "They may have a nice spread in the upcoming book, so look out for that." Talk about the fan(dom) power!
Mirroring its name, 'Dynamite' had 'exploded' after release
Dynamite had exploded upon release. It had secured 100 million YouTube views in the first 24 hours of its release. The song's video now has over 933 million views. It also holds the record for 'Most Viewed YouTube Video In 24 hours', 'Most Viewed YouTube Music Video In 24 hours', and 'Most Viewed YouTube Music Video In 24 hours By A K-Pop Group'.
BTS, however, failed to lift the Grammys trophy
The band was nominated for Grammy Awards this year in the 'Best Pop Duo/Group Performance' category but lost to Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande's Rain On Me. BTS fans weren't happy, to say the least, and soon started trending #Scammys on Twitter. In November 2020, the band had spoken about the coveted event, confessing cheekily, "We need ARMY more than Grammy. (sic)"
