BTS's RM solo documentary to debut at Busan Film Festival
BTS leader Kim Nam-joon aka RM's solo documentary, titled RM: Right People, Wrong Place, is set to make its big debut at the 29th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) in October. The film offers a glimpse into RM's life as an artist and individual during a significant period. The news was announced at a press conference held at the Seoul Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday.
Documentary to feature in the 'Open Cinema' section
BIFF programmer Kang So-won revealed that the documentary, helmed by Lee Seok-joon, was first considered for the 'Wide Angle' section. This section is known for its diverse range of short films, animation, documentaries, and experimental works. However, due to the film's unique combination of artistic value and popular appeal, it was deemed suitable for the 'Open Cinema' section. This prestigious category features new and internationally recognized films.
Documentary chronicles RM's journey before military enlistment
RM: Right People, Wrong Place documents the creation of RM's second solo album Right Place, Wrong Person, which was released in May this year. It also offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the eight months leading up to RM's military enlistment. As RM is currently serving his mandatory military service, he may not be able to attend the film fest. However, several artists featured in the documentary are expected to be present.
Busan International Film Festival: Dates and details
Kang stated, "This is only the second time a documentary has been selected for the 'Open Cinema' section, underscoring the film's significance and broad appeal." To note, the 29th BIFF will commence on October 2 and conclude on October 11. The festival will showcase 279 films across 28 screens. This festival promises to be a celebration of cinematic artistry and a special occasion for ARMYs (BTS's fandom), who are eagerly awaiting the documentary's premiere.
