'Captain Marvel' star Brie Larson calls off engagement with fiance
Captain Marvel is hitting the theaters on March 8 and we will be introduced to Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel for the first time. Played by Brie Larson, the character will gain even more importance, when she helps the Avengers take down Thanos in Avengers: Endgame. While Larson's professional life seems on track, especially regarding the MCU, her personal life is in turmoil.
Larson and fiance call off three year engagement
The 29-year-old Larson was engaged to the musician from Phantom Planet, 39-year-old Alex Greenwald. According to reports, the couple broke off their engagement that had lasted for almost 3 years. The couple started dating several years back, but Greenwald proposed to the Captain Marvel star in May 2016. Although the couple has broken up their engagement, reports suggest that they remain close.
Couple has taken a step back, says source
People magazine reports that an unnamed source claiming to be close to the couple spoke about their engagement being called off, saying, "They have taken a step back from their engagement for the time being but they remain close".
Larson to be busy for the foreseeable future in Marvel
Larson who won an Oscar for Room might have called off the engagement as she will be busy for the foreseeable future. The actress will also be appearing in Endgame after her solo movie, as we mentioned. Reports already suggest Captain Marvel could have one of the highest solo openings in the MCU, which would mean that Larson might get her own multiple-picture franchise.
Larson has a unique view on the 'Captain Marvel' movie
Larson brings a unique perspective, not wanting people to hype Captain Marvel as Marvel's first solo female superhero movie, believing women should naturally be able to do the same things as men. She said, "I'm kind of over the, 'First female blah blah blah,' and 'Wow, maybe women can actually do the same things that dudes can do - what a crazy concept!'"
