Bad news for Veeres? Now, #BoycottVeereDiWedding trends on Twitter
What's the story
Seems like many Twitter users aren't letting go of their anger on actresses Swara Bhaskar, Sonam Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan, just yet.
After the trailer of their 'not a chick flick', 'Veere Di Wedding' dropped yesterday, many started tweeting #BoycottVeereDiWedding on the micro-blogging website Twitter.
It is left to be seen if this puts a dent in the movie's box-office collection.
Reason
What is the outrage all about?
Those who have called for the movie's boycott seem miffed with the actresses' stand on Kathua rape.
Sonam, Kareena, Swara held placards condemning the rape; the placards also mentioned 'devisthan' (prayer hall) where the incident allegedly happened.
Many took offense over the mention of the temple and assumed it was demeaning to Hinduism, paving the path for the trend on Twitter.

Here's one such tweet
I request everyone to tweet on #BoycottVeereDiWedding dare Kareena Sonam Kapoor to hold a place card for Geeta, write the name of the masjid on it blame the religion. If they can’t...They should apologise for what they did earlier.

Looking back
Earlier, many un-installed Amazon for its association with Swara Bhaskar
Not long ago, Twitter users supported the #BoycottAmazon trend because of the shopping website's association with Swara Bhaskar.
As the outrage gained momentum, Amazon deleted the tweet, on which Bhaskar had replied talking about the problems she faced after shifting to a new city.
However, many condemned Amazon for kneeling down to those who spoke ill about Bhaskar for her stand on Kathua rape.

Amazon's step to delete tweet irks many
Amazed @amazonIN @amazon would bow to rape apologists. Look at @ReallySwara's placard, you'd rather be blackmailed by a few thousand rape apologists than stand up against sexual violence, @JeffBezos? https://t.co/ZVIFaWMTs5

The big question: Will Veere Di Wedding's collections be affected?
Ever since it went on floors, almost two years ago, 'Veere Di Wedding' is one of the most talked about movies of Bollywood.
A lot rides on this movie, obviously. However, given the kind of hatred it is garnering from a section on social media, it is bound to affect the movie's box office collections.
The movie is slated for release on June 1.
